This is a great trail but it is not for the faint of heart. If you are in good shape then I highly recommend it.
If you want to skip the incline, you can drive up to the parkway and park at Brinegar's Cabin and enter the trail from there for an out and back.

This was our first time here. We hiked Flat Rock Ridge trail it was challenging but well worth the work ! We definitely will be back to hike the other trails. Great day and weather .
This is one of my favorite parks. Mainly due to the combination of challenge, choices, and views. You can start at the bottom Flat Rock Ridge Trailhead and choose from one of three challenging trails. Each has a sizable climb. At the top, the trail flattens out as you start your hike along the blue ridge parkway. The tail loops around the entire park.
Great hike with some views of the Cove creek area. Moderate trail going either direction
